One of the critical components for change is whole-system analysis. Just like an individual, organizations are living entities with diverse and complex ranges of psychological and relational dynamics. Organizations have complexes, defense mechanisms, archetypal patterns, wounds, shadow elements, and a developmental path. But much of this remains largely unconscious or unexamined as a component of change programs. The more conscious an organization attempts to become, the better they can handle adversity and reach important new stages in their evolution. Conscious organizations invest in understanding how to address sources of organizational pain and stop repeating ingrained patterns that limit individuals and teams.
